Paul Trevillion has created a hand-drawn scene to commemorate the upcoming Coronation of King Charles III, which we are using as part of a colouring competition for young people.
Whilst the nation prepares to celebrate the upcoming Coronation of King Charles III, Hobs has also taken the opportunity to join in with the celebrations. We’ve decorated our branch windows with a unique design depicting His Majesty’s profile against an oil painting and featured cut-outs of Guinivere Guards at our London locations. We’ve also had the pleasure of working with the artist Paul Trevllion – “Master of Movement”.
Paul Trevillion has created works of art over the years which have depicted various sporting icons, prominent political figures, and now royalty. He has created a hand-drawn scene to commemorate the upcoming Coronation of King Charles III, which we are using as part of a colouring competition for young people. When we approached Paul about helping us with our Coronation Competition he was delighted to help us, as he himself had won an art competition as a child which encouraged his artistic pursuits.
Paul shared some kind words on what this project meant to him:
“I was standing in the BHP Gallery, St Paul’s Square, Birmingham when I was approached by Bart Sobiecki who immediately engaged me in conversation regarding Hobs’ drawing and painting competition for children to commemorate the King Charles III Coronation on 6th May 2023. As Bart’s informative words flowed, I began to feel imaginary rain drops on my face and I was back in 1953 standing in Oxford Street, London. I was in a packed crowd, madly waving along with everyone my Union Jack, as the joyous sound of the excited crowd rose to a crescendo as white horses appeared in their leather straps and red plumage, with the Household Cavalry in their dazzling uniforms walking in step alongside. Then the gleaming gold coach with the footmen and the Yeomen of the Guard and their long ornate poles on their shoulders, came into view and suddenly the smiling face of the young Queen Elizabeth II appeared as she waved to us all on the rain soaked streets on this glorious day. It seemed like it all happened only YESTERDAY. I continued to listen to Bart as I reminisced, then shook hands. I am honoured to be asked to create a majestic commemorative piece for the Kings Coronation.”
