Hobs Studios Innovative BIM Solutions

BIM Show Live is the UK’s most established BIM event and Hobs Studio were a major exhibitor on the 23rd and 24th April. BIM Show Live combines a content-packed conference across four stages, exhibition spaces and unrivalled networking for anyone involved in BIM.

The two day event in Manchester saw in-depth practical learning for the delegates and demonstrations from the most innovative BIM suppliers, including Hobs Studio who were demonstrating an Architectural Model that overlaid Augmented Reality onto a 3D Printed model.

As well as architects and construction company representatives, over 650 delegates attended from the entire spectrum of the BIM workflow. They came together to hear from over 60 expert industry speakers covering topics from the adoption of BIM to advanced level master classes. Hobs Studio were on hand to advise on BIM adoption and demonstrate their BIM training services, along with the full range of their BIM solutions.

For example, Laser Scanning existing buildings is a perfect input into BIM. The Hobs Studio team demonstrated how they can scan buildings and convert the resulting measurements into a virtual 3D model. These, and any other 3D models, can be converted into a whole range of BIM outputs including Visualisations (images), Animations, Virtual Reality and of course 3D Printing.

The Hobs Studio stand was staffed by experts from Hobs Studio Manchester and some of the North West sales team. Many delegates commented on our joined-up approach to delivering BIM services, as this would help them on their journey from collaboration to BIM integration. As such we were a truly unique exhibitor at the event and we were particularly delighted to win a ‘BIMMY Award’ for the best stand as voted for by attendees.

In summary, BIM Show Live is the BIM event of the year and it was clear that BIM is a business imperative for the AEC sector. The big learning was that whatever stage you’re at, it’s time to get serious about BIM!
