Hobs Repro, official launch sponsors of the new “Design…Engineer…Construct!” curriculum, attended the northern launch event on Wednesday 18th September at the People’s History Museum, Manchester. Over 200 people gathered for the event, including government officials, local schools representatives and other sponsors Topcon and BAM Construction.

Design Engineer Construct!, integrates creativity with applied science, technology, engineering and maths to provide young people with recognised qualifications approved by The Department for Education, enabling them to access vital pathways to careers in the professional and technical built environment. It runs across Level 1, 2 and 3 for all secondary school age groups and has been described as the most innovative, challenging and relevant secondary school curriculum development in recent years. This new curriculum has been developed by ‘Class of Your Own’, an organisation which provides hands-on workshops and a dedicated STEM focused creative curriculum.

Keynote speaker for the launch was Peter Hansford, the Government Chief Construction Advisor and a highly respected Civil Engineer in his own right, who reinforced the need for home-grown talent as part of the Government Industrial Strategy 2025.

At the launch, Hobs Studio demonstrated their 3D printing bureau and laser-scanning services and other new technologies such as Augmented Reality and, as a co-sponsor, will be a key part of a coordinated network of apprenticeship schemes and vocational initiatives with Design…Engineer…Construct!

Mo Isap, Director of Group Strategy at Hobs Repro, spoke at the event and commented, “Hobs Studio is now the market leader for providing 3D services in both the Construction and Education sectors. We are educating our clients on how 3D technology can benefit them today and are excited about supporting students who will shape Industry tomorrow. We are proud to be supporting such a comprehensive curriculum and we are delighted to be supporting the next generation of engineers, constructors and architects. We look forward to a long fruitful relationship with local education organisations that are signing up to the new curriculum.”

Thanks to the overwhelming support of the most progressive globally respected companies and professional bodies, the Design…Engineer…Construct! curriculum is already creating amazing opportunities for young people and their teachers.
